With the advancement of AI technology, financial technology (FinTech) has become a key driver of global economic development, and Taiwan is no exception. To explore the practical applications of AI in FinTech and its future development, the AI FinTech Association held the "AI FinTech Development Forum" on September 5, 2024, at the NTU GIS Convention Center. This forum gathered top experts from industry, government, academia, and research to discuss how AI technology can be integrated with financial services, focusing on addressing current challenges and seizing new opportunities.

The forum emphasized the potential of AI technology to enhance economic efficiency and business operations. Fang-Guan Zhan, Deputy Minister of the National Development Council, shared the government’s strategies for promoting AI FinTech, including providing greater support to local enterprises in international markets and planning to establish Taiwan innovation hubs in Silicon Valley and Tokyo to facilitate expansion into the U.S. and Japanese markets. Zhan also highlighted the importance of FinTech industry development as a direction for joint efforts between the government and the private sector.

Chen Yen-Liang, Deputy Chairman of the Financial Supervisory Commission, noted in his remarks that the financial services industry has evolved from traditional banking to open banking, with the current phase being the integration of AI technology. He reiterated that all AI applications will be promoted according to the principle of "advancing safety and development," ensuring innovation without compromising security.

Su Chien-Jung, Chairman of the Taiwan Financial Services Roundtable, stated that through the FinTech co-creation platform and innovation parks, Taiwan is committed to fostering innovation, talent development, and international exchange in the financial sector. He expressed hopes of further advancing the internationalization and competitiveness of local FinTech companies.

The forum not only provided in-depth discussions on AI FinTech development but also served as an important platform for Taiwan to showcase its capabilities and innovation in the global FinTech arena. Through such events, Taiwan aims to create new growth points in the AI FinTech sector and contribute more innovative solutions to the global economy.
