The Taipei City Department of Information and Tourism has launched the "Rainbow Sightseeing Bus Tour," featuring three themed routes: "Cultural Tour," "Music Tour," and "Film Tour." These routes are designed to showcase Taipei’s vibrant LGBTQ+ culture and the history of the gay rights movement. This special tour, available only in October, offers a total of 36 trips, giving visitors a deep dive into Taipei's diverse culture and history through unique themed activities.
The "Cultural Tour" will guide visitors through significant landmarks such as the 228 Peace Memorial Park and Changde Street, exploring the development of Taiwan's gay rights movement. The "Music Tour" will transform the bus into a moving KTV, playing rainbow-themed songs by artists like A-mei and Jolin Tsai. Meanwhile, the "Film Tour" will revisit iconic filming locations from classic LGBTQ+ movies such as The Outsiders and Eternal Summer, offering a cinematic exploration of Taipei's rainbow culture.
This year, the Rainbow Sightseeing Bus has invited influencers and celebrities, including Elja Heights, FJ234, and Rachel, to serve as tour guides. They will ride along with passengers, sharing insights into Taipei's LGBTQ+-friendly spots and stories of rainbow culture. The tour tickets go on sale today at noon on the KLOOK platform, and the first batch of buyers will receive a limited-edition rainbow-themed travel pack.
The Rainbow Sightseeing Bus not only highlights Taipei's diversity and inclusiveness but also offers a fantastic opportunity to explore the history and modern development of Taiwan's LGBTQ+ movement, inviting both local and international tourists to experience the colorful charm of Taipei.
