Taipei's Rainbow Sightseeing Bus Tour Takes Off in October, Featuring Diverse Guides and Engaging Activities

To continue the momentum of the Color Taipei campaign and promote LGBTQ+ friendly tourism, the Taipei City Department of Information and Tourism has launched the "Rainbow Sightseeing Bus Tour" during Taiwan's Pride Month in October, exclusively sold through KLOOK. Making its debut last weekend, the tour invited a diverse range of guides, including drag queens, Golden Horse Awards host Dezi, members of the music group VERA, and P!SCO vocalist Xiao Lun, to lead travelers on a journey through Taipei's vibrant LGBTQ+ culture and history, sharing personal stories and music along the way.

Diverse Guides Share Their Rainbow Stories and Music

Drag queen Dezi, in her first role as a tour guide, meticulously prepared historical backgrounds and cultural stories of Taipei's LGBTQ+ friendly spots. VERA members Mengwei and Cai Zhen delivered captivating performances with iconic songs like Jolin Tsai's "Play Me" and A-mei's "Rainbow." P!SCO vocalist Xiao Lun shared their personal story of getting married with their partner, emphasizing the importance of legal protections for couples and setting a joyful atmosphere with carefully selected songs.

A Variety of Activities Showcase Taipei's LGBTQ+ Friendly Culture

Indigenous drag queen "Goodnight Baby" shared their journey from hiding their identity to proudly living as themselves, and introduced travelers to Taipei's LGBTQ+ hotspots like Ximending Red House and the now-closed Funky. Podcast host Jibandayizhi engaged with travelers in a relaxed and humorous manner, sharing gossip and stories about Taipei's nightlife, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Golden Bell Award-winning radio host Hsu Che-wei performed LGBTQ+ themed movie soundtracks on his guitar, highlighting Taiwan's pride as the first Asian country to legalize same-sex marriage.

Highlighting History and Modernity

Each guide on the "Rainbow Sightseeing Bus Tour" prepared unique content and activities, allowing travelers to find common ground within Taipei's diverse culture. Whether it was P!SCO's music sharing, La Wai's indigenous classics, or Hsu Che-wei's introduction to Ximending Red House, the overall event showcased Taiwan's progress and inclusivity in LGBTQ+ rights, inviting all rainbow community members to join and enjoy this colorful journey.
